TEGUCIGALPA, February 24. /TASS/. Honduras, the third largest coffee producer in the American continent, views the Russian market as an alternative to coffee exports to the EU amid restrictions on agricultural products supplies to be introduced by Brussels, Vice President of the Honduras Coffee Institute Mario Suazo told TASS.
“Honduras is the country with the huge potential of coffee exports growth. We are nevertheless looking for alternative markets, to have an opportunity to diversify our exports,” Suazo noted. EU member-countries and the US are main buyers of the Honduran coffee at present.
Russia “has the potential for economic growth. It is a very attractive country and in view of that broad prospects are being opened for Honduran coffee to enter the Russian market,” the export said. Coffee supplies from Honduras to Russia are now modest and were not above 18,000 bags last year.
